Reaching Out to an Old Aquaintance By Eric Worre

“Do I really know enough people to share my opportunity with and build a business?” It’s a common concern of Network Marketers, especially those just starting out.

Yes, you do!

You know more people than you think. And it’s not just people currently in your life, but people who you haven’t talked to in a long time. These old acquaintances are often overlooked when you are creating a prospect list, but you never know when an old acquaintance can turn into a valuable member of your team.

But how do you reach out to an old acquaintance? How do you start a conversation with someone you haven’t spoken to in years?

Below are some tips for reaching out to your old acquaintances…

Who to Add to Your List

Friends on Facebook you haven’t talked to in a while
High school friends you’ve lost touch with
Former colleagues
Old neighbors
The people on your Christmas card list you never talk to otherwise
What to Do and Not to Do

Do Not:

Immediately pitch your product/opportunity
Make the conversation all about you
Do:

Ask them how they have been
Show actual interest in their lives
Schedule a time to meet and catch up
Example of an Invite Through Text Message

Follow-Up with Them

Once you’ve reconnected to this prospect, don’t let the conversation go cold again. Remember, it will take an average of 4-6 exposures before your prospect comes to a final decision about whether to join or not. So…

Set up the next exposure at the end of each exposure
Don’t make each conversation solely about your product or opportunity
Continue to show interest in your prospect’s life
Educate your prospect about your opportunity
Don’t let too much time pass between exposures
Be Their Friend!
Successful people in Network Marketing form relationships with their prospects. So, don’t make everything about your product or opportunity. You don’t even need to spend every exposure talking about your business. Go out to dinner with them or get your families together for a day at the amusement park.

Just be their friend, and don’t let them fall back into the old acquaintance category. And as you get to know them again, let them get to know you. Share your experiences, your challenges, and your hopes for your Network Marketing business. The more they know you, the more they will respect you and listen about your opportunity.
This is exactly why Network Marketing is the business of the 21st Century. People laughed a couple of years ago when Network Marketing Professionals were saying this. There were no Uber and Air B&B then, but today what do we have? Traditional businesses which mainly create and use middlemen I am sorry is fast going into extinction. Thank God, Network Marketing is the “Solution” and Network Marketing Professionals are the solution providers.
